Modern aircrafts are certified bird impact resistant. Nevertheless, structures which are designed to carry aerodynamic loads, like a propeller spinner, may collapse after a bird strike. The outcomes of a research aimed at improving the design of a propeller spinner made in aluminium alloy and composite material are here introduced.
