HELICOPTER FLIGHT SAFETY ENHANCEMENT: A EUROCOPTER CONTINUING ACTION

J. M. Pouradier
EUROCOPTER, France

Keywords: helicopter, flight safety

Helicopters are highly complex systems, often used for demanding missions in hostile environments. But despite these handicaps, the safety records of the turbine helicopters are better than that of general aviation. Present causes for accident are analysed, so as the future threats. Ways forward are then suggested, with an emphasis on those under the helicopter manufacturer responsibility. Examples of improvements already in service or still at the research stage are given.
