The EC funded project "Aircraft in the Future ATM System"(AFAS) proposes to increase capacity and to reduce delays within the European Air Traffic system by a "Pre-flight Trajectory Coordination" between the Aircraft and Air Traffic Control using a Data Link. The paper describes the Road Map for the Cost/Benefit Analysis which has to be performed from an airline point of view and for the European Air Traffic System.
