Keywords: turbofan, optimisation, emissions

A procedure for the identification of the turbofan cycle yielding minimum global warming potential is described and utilised. Preliminary results show that such an engine is characterized by lower operating pressures and temperatures than those found in a turbofan optimised for minimum cruise specific fuel consumption.
