A compact design has been proposed to design an objective with two field of view with 2.5 magnification, working in 3-5 micron band. Conventional lens materials are used to make the design easy to manufacture. Aspheric and Diffractive surfaces have been used to reduce the aberrations to a significant level. Four elements are used in narrow field of view mode and additional two element used as a clip-in group to change the field of view to wide angle mode. The performance is close to diffraction limit as exhibited by MTF curves and spot diagram at different field points. The design can be used for commercial as well as military applications.
