Keywords: air-intake-role-constraints

For air breathing propulsion, the upstream part of the propulsive nacelle is the aire intakes ; they give the air flow adapted to the need of the engines. This paper explains the role of these air intakes and the associated constraints for all the flight phases. Some proposals of design are also presented for a large variety of flying vehicles.
