Keywords: spray forming, superalloys

A unique pilot low-pressure spray forming plant was established and its spray atomization and deposition process developed. The spray formed superalloy showed significantly improved metallurgical quality, higher mechanical properties, better hot workability compared to the wrought counterpart of the same alloy. The effects of subsequent hot processing were also investigated.
