MULTIDISCIPLINARY DESIGN OPTIMISATION FOR EMBEDDED SENSOR DESIGNS

Multidisciplinary design optimisation (MDO) is proposed as a method for addressing the difficulties with implementing new smart structures technologies in aerospace design applications. The MDO framework coordinates the disciplines of manufacturing, mechanical design and sensor design, and maximises the use of available sensor information early in the design, reducing design complexity and cost.
