REAL TIME SHIP MOTION CRITERIA FOR MARITIME HELICOPTER OPERATIONS

Real time ship motion criteria offer a new way to define flight deck operating limits for maritime helicopters. Flight test data are analysed to select critical ship motion parameters, and to develop representative real time criteria for landing in high sea states. A two-part definition of quiescence is introduced for real time applications, and illustrated by examining measured ship and helicopter parameters.
