In order to obtain a mathematical model of two-dimensional buffet carried out in a wind tunnel, a Van der Pol oscillator has been used, enhanced with some parameters identified from measurements. This model has been used to define a control law aiming to suppress the buffet and the experimental effects proved to conform to the theory. The same method has been applied to the compressors surge, where measurements are simulated from the Greitzer equations ; the first results are very encouraging.
