SERVICE LIFE OF A TITANIUM MAIN WING BOX FOR SECOND GENERATION SUPERSONIC COMMERCIAL TRANSPORT

On the basis of summarizing the experience of developing supersonic aircraft the lifetime properties of SST-2 lower wing panels have been analyzed when the titanium alloy welded wing box was used. The analysis of the critical sizes of cracks, crack growth duration from the visually detected size up to the critical size is carried out.
