A simple yet efficient spin testing technique has been developed at the Aerodynamic Division of SibNIA. This technique is based on the assumption that the spin radius has insignificant influence on the aircraft aerodynamic characteristics. The correctness of this hypothesis has been demonstrated through a comparison of the experimental results obtained for a Su-26 model tested in SibNIA T-203 horizontal wind tunnel with the data obtained in TsAGI T-105 vertical wind tunnel and flight test data. Based on the developed technique, the effect of some layout modifications on steady spin characteristics of aircraft has been estimated.
