THREE-DIMENSIONAL VISCOUS FLOW SIMULATIONS OVER A COMPLETE SATELLITE LAUNCHER USING OVERSET GRIDS

E. Basso, J. L. F. Azevedo

Keywords: viscous simulations, chimera grids, finite difference method, satellite launcher

A Chimera flow simulation code is developed to simulate laminar and turbulent viscous flows over the first Brazilian satellite launcher, VLS. The finite difference method with a central difference scheme is employed, and Baldwin and Lomax algebraic eddy viscosity model is used in order to provide turbulence closure. Studies of mesh refinement are also presented as a part of validation effort.
