INVERSE DESIGN OF HIGH LIFT SYSTEMS

D. Jones, I. Fejtek

Keywords: inverse design, high-lift systems, flap design

The design of wings for new aircraft is a time-consuming and challenging task. This is particularly the case when the design needs to incorporate high lift systems which also require design. This paper presents a method that was originally developed for the design of wings in cruise configuration. This method has been extended to the design of the individual components of high lift systems, in particular the flap, using an inverse design code based on a transonic small potential method.
