The effects of transversal wall oscillations on a turbulent boundary layer developing on a flat plate have been studied by means of Digital Particle Image Velocimetry (DPIV). Results are presented for the optimum oscillation period of 100 viscous time units and for an oscillation amplitude of 320 viscous units. Comparisons between the canonical and forced flow have been performed in an attempt at observing the physical mechanisms by which the wall oscillation influences the near wall organized motions.
