A FULLY COUPLED NEWTON-KRYLOV SOLVER FOR TURBULENT AERODYNAMIC FLOWS

A fast Newton-Krylov algorithm is presented for solving the compressible Navier-Stokes equations on structured multi-block grids with application to turbulent aerodynamic flows. The one-equation Spalart-Allmaras model is used to provide the turbulent viscosity. Single-element cases are solved in less than 100 seconds on an engineering workstation, while the solution of a multi-element case can be found in less than 25 minutes.
