Keywords: wingtip, drag reduction, root bending moment

A significant improvement in overall aerodynamic performance is necessary to fulfil the mission requirements of a business jet that is derived from the basis of a regional transport aircraft. This can be achieved using add-on high performance wing tip extensions to reduce drag. The design concept of a new Shark wingtip family is introduced. Its aerodynamic performance improvement potential is detailed in results of numerical and experimental studies.
