The applicability of an optimization routine
included in the Ansys® software applied to fiber
reinforced structures was analyzed via a
practical example. A laminated wing was
modeled and optimization parameters were
defined such as weight, fiber orientation angle
and failure criteria. Two optimization methods
were used. Results are analyzed and the method
restrictions are discussed and other methods are
proposed.
